An Island Farm. The Croft is a quaint river-island farm – situated on just over seven acres – located in Portland, Oregon, near where the Willamette and Columbia rivers converge. The island, which is almost twice the size of Manhattan, has only 1000 human inhabitants, and is mostly a wildlife refuge for migratory birds. For a hundred years the field we currently farm was a pasture for sheep. But now it is our home, work-space, and a place that we cultivate daily. Our croft is a passionate labor of love for our small family.
We are committed to harvesting organically-minded vegetables, blueberries, sheep and alpaca fiber, honey, and crisp cider apples (and loving our nonhuman animals!). We operate a small, artisan produce stand in summer that helps feed individuals in the Portland Metro area, and keeps our farm thriving. We sell directly to families and small restaurants via our CSA program. We also invite guests to come stay and learn about diversified farming and low-impact, small-home living. We really love what we do and how we live. |
Better than any argument is to rise at dawn and pick dew-wet red berries in a cup.
